Okay, maybe not quite like tha -

...oh... kay. So, there's the Versailles curse coming up this weekend, and of course that meaaaaaaaans: drama. Costumes. And exceedingly pink pastries (among other things).

So just comment with whatever plans you have for your characters: will they be part of the grand aristocracy, the working staff, revolutionaries, mere courtiers working their way through ranks, ambassadors? What are their plots and plans, and more importantly, whom else can you drag into it? Put down if your character needs some help (a lady might need a personal attendant, for instance, a palace guard commander might require his subordinates, etc) as well!

Just have fun with it, hur hur.

I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS WEEKEND, YOU HAVE NO IDEA! A lot on unnecessary planning as been going on for my two guys, both of which could use some help from outside parties.

Dulcie dulcisnuntius is going to be Dulcine DesRosiers, Baronne du Fontette, the Mistress of some high-ranking noble in Versailles (since I love making Dulcie troll drunkenly at fancy parties). DOES ANYBODY WANT A SLIGHTLY CRAZY ANGEL-MISTRESS FOR THE WEEKEND? Alternatively, she is actually married to the Baron du Fontette, so if anyone wants to volunteer themselves to be a henpecked arrange-marriage husband, that would also be hilarious.

Stephen totallyinaband is going to be a palace servant. Since I am a horrible person and love torturing him, I thought it would be endlessly hilarious if Stephen became the servant all the nobles keep propositioning for quickies behind tapestries or in dark corners of parties. WE ALL KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON IN 18TH CENTURY FRANCE, and it involved a lot of sex and adultery. What this basically means in that Stephen's defenses are going to be lowered slightly for this weekend, so if any of your characters feel like endlessly hitting on him... NOW IS THE TIME. :-D

Yes, I am making this a rather sexy weekend for both my characters. ALL THAT SORT OF STUFF WAS ACTUALLY HAPPENING, OKAY? I wrote an essay on it for school. :-D

OKAY SO, THIS MIGHT GO ON A BIT LONG BUT HERE IS EXCITINGFUN BACKSTORY TIME.
For at least where it comes to airing out my pitiful remembered French from elementary and high school (8 years! You'd think something would stick!) I am going to be very lazy and make bad jokes using poor grammar. Everything else is stupid-complex. So as per usual, yes. (And, alright, most of Amy/Rory's is due to chatona.)

waitsforever(/waitedforyears: Amy is the daughter of a noble couple who are part of the ooooooold french nobility. And also rich. Which means that at least for right now, pre the Glorious Revoluuuution when Robespierre will have fun with people's heads, she has it totally made. Well. Mostly. Her parents are kind of both dead.
Amy was raised by her aunt...kind of, who was her guardian until Amy came into her title and fortune. Only she barely paid attention to her. So Amy had a few noblewoman lessons or...whatever, but pretty much entirely avoided any kind of real discipline. Making her a loose cannon.
AS FOR RORY. He...is the bastard son (not that it really matters sooo much in the lower classes) of a servant in Amy's house. And being basically the only kid her age really accessible to her, Amy latched onto him and they became bffs. And, when older, lovers. Only then Amy turned 17 or 18, whatever, and came of age, and into her rank and fortune, and was invited to court. Naturally, this made Rory kind of sad and mopey because he was convinced she'd go off to court and forget him and marry strategically and stuff.

Only naturally, then, she bought Rory a title, married him, and brought him to court along with her. They are not a typical court couple at all, naturally. It is probably established that Rory gets mocked by the court, and fairly demeaned to his face, though probably not when Amy's there because she is extremely influential. Amy is seen as a mad ececntric. Probably.

Also, they have names/titles because I got carried away.

loonyandproud: Campbell is a palace servant and I'm going to be slightly kind to him and say that he's not full-on manic even without drugs right now. That said, he is the mad servant. I haven't really completely decided but maybe he's the bastard of a prince or something and he's kept in the palace as a favour.

Unless someone really really wants a bipolar guy for something, in which case, I'm happy to oblige.

Foreign Entourage, Assemble!

So being that a big part of Versailles was the social intrigue and potential for political advancement, here we have a Rosella, eligible daughter (though not heir) of the ruler of a tiny foreign kingdom looking to score as many political ties and alliances as possible with the powerhouse that is France, and doing this by sending his daughter to court and letting her work her mojo on the king and courtiers there. It's all about doing her part to strengthen her kingdom for her brother's succession, and while she's not precisely looking for a marriage, she's not above getting her flirt on to garner favor with the elite to persuade them to look kindly on her tiny, reasonably defenseless kingdom.

She ought to have an entourage with her, if anyone's looking for a noble to serve or a role to fill, and she'll be completely willing to dive right in to the backstabbing game of thrones that is Versailles. Personal objections mean little; the preservation of her kingdom is everything.

Anyone interested in working out connections with her, planning some shenanigans, letting her covertly embarrass you in front of the court, etc.? I'm open to ideas; let's have a chat!

Since canonically Myrnin was a Lord right about this time and probably newly vamped I'm going to have him be a lord for this curse too. He's still eccentric, a little crazy and currently obsessed with blood and how it effects everyone from humans to vampires. His peasants are probably fairly left to their own devices and he's far more neglectful than he is overbearing.

He is hunting people/feeding from peasants though so there's that.

Once upon a time, a mysterious fellow left France to go to the New World to hang around, see some things, and seek his fortune. And he did. As wild as parts of the New World are at the moment, someone in his "line of work" could do all right for himself.

In the course of a long and fatal chase (spoiler: the other guy's dead), he found himself returning to Europe by Spain. From Spain, he made his way back to France in someone or other's pay. He'll leave again eventually, but he'll stay put as long as there's money to be made.

Need someone to solve a problem for you? Find a criminal? Kill someone? Obtain something? Snaffle messages? Be a scary highwayman? Generally get into trouble? Inquire within.

There will be a very large, very imposing highwayman's coat in lieu of the poncho for this curse.

Okay, my knowledge of Versailles is pretty much limited to a really old French film that I cannot even recall the titles of at the moment... but I'm planning to study up so I can do something interesting with this.

I really like the idea of Neil as the son of an aristocrat, but kind of... the child the family doesn't want anyone to know about, because he is awkward and has issues, and everyone would just as well have him hold his tongue and mostly stay out of everyone's way (and out of sight if possible) because otherwise he will surely embarrass everyone.

Anyway, like I said, gonna have to do some reading and stuff to kind of flesh this out but... that's the basic idea. I totally encourage nobles to shun him and stuff. And servants may find him being friendly in a socially inappropriate and unacceptable way, because they're probably the only ones who aren't intimidating or likely to tell him he needs to not be the way that he is.

I'd actually like horrible_protag to be a personal butler of some sort. I don't know much about French history, but I was considering maybe having him lead that double life- Servant by day, somewhat passably competent protector of the innocent by night. Um, French history buffs welcome to give me some ideas here.

badhairlifetime needs to be reminded of how nice a noble's life is. She's the daughter of a baronness, AND SO SHALL SHE BE AGAIN! She'll be slightly rebellious against her parents in subtle ways.

Oh, I am so excited for this curse. ITS GONNA BE SO PRETTY!!! :D

Okay, so I'm still working out specific plots, but I have some general ideas for my ragtag bunch of muses!

manofgnee is now Hanna Croix, a rather clumsy and poor yet lovable member of the palace staff...who works nights as a private detective, in the aid of the common man. Hey, you learn a lot working among the rich, famous, noble, and controversial! And he'll use that to benefit his fellow common!

...he also dabbles in the occult.

I'm still not sure whether or not tangledintower will be affected by the curse, because she's going to be spending the entirety of it on a big lovey dovey date with Flynn...BUT! If I do go and have her be affected, she will be a member of the English aristocracy visiting the French court.
...And she'll be fascinated by everything, and in her desire to learn and explore as much as she can, she'll disguise herself as a servant so that she can explore freely. Flynn, you can use this to bond with her if you want! :D

fallenbrownbird...again, not sure if she'll be affected or not. If not, she'll just watch, comment, and be amused. If so, she'll be the child of the palace gardener, and therefore she works in the gardens too.

I'm bouncing around a few ideas for this guy:

IDEA #1: A fallen noble. His mother was a Vicomtesse of France and his father was a Marchese of Italy. (Actually, his father bedded a woman from the Orient, but nobody talks about that.) Deeply in debt, his parents' shady dealings resulted in the family losing the monarchy's favor on both sides. Their titles were stripped, their home sold to pay off their debts, and his "mother" dead after an intentional bullet to the head. His father promptly died soon after due to a severe case of Typhoid fever, leaving Amory to fend for himself on mere sous.

Characters that would be much wanted!

▪ A little sister, mayhaps?
▪ A love interest from his better days, to give him cause for sneaking into the ball.
▪ Anyone!

IDEA #2: Amory as a Gentleman of the Night, if you know what I mean. Just cause, well. I want to do something different. I could also tie together 1 & 2, making 1 the cause of 2.

SOOOOOO This warrior right here needs to do something. I'm thinking about making her a noble who is trying to not be one. All she wants to do is become a warrior, and she is being forced to be a girly-girl and wear silly dresses and going to silly parties full of silliness!

She wouldn't be very high up on the noble chart, but she'd be more important than a servant (who she'd get along with). Also, having a date is welcomed... since she doesn't have Sokka anymore ;_;

Still trying to figure out the specifics with Ginny for this curse and I've a few ideas bouncing around my head... But the main one I've got is that she is perhaps a maid in the palace who passes whatever valuable information she might overhear among the nobles to the revolutionaries? Sneaking into the city to speak with her brothers dressed as a boy so she isn't recognised. That one plays to the resistance in the Wizarding world and lower status of the Weasley family.

Alternatively, she could be a lady-in-waiting to Lady Fleur Weasley (née Delacour) after her brother William married her and she's occasionally at the court when her lady feels it's time for a visit (and is still a revolutionary spy?!).

SO IDK GUYS. I'm making her French for this so we don't have to figure out the English thing, sob. It's question of whether she is of somewhat noble birth or lower class. Either way, she'll be going by Ginevra (and when masquerading as a boy - the lower class scenario - she'll be Eugene with the nickname Gene). WHICH SEAT IDEA DO I TAKE?
