the present was an egg laid by the past that had the future inside its shell

27; Egg Hunt
Mysterious eggs have appeared all around the City and they're waiting to be collected.
29; How To Train Your...
This one shouldn't be too hard to figure out.
As promised, here's a post on the end of March's event!
March 27, citizens will find eggs hiding in various places in the City. Some are plain, some are speckled, some are a little oblong shaped, some are gold, some are bejeweled, and some come in neon colors. Your characters can crack the eggs and cook what comes out (sorry it's just strange yolk reflecting the colorway of the shell, nothing gross to see here) and the result of their meal will be an upset stomach lasting at least three days. Too bad so sad. But if your character decides to keep the egg intact they'll be getting a surprise in a few days.
March 29, citizens with an egg in their possession will find it has cracked itself open. And what's that coming out? It's a dragon is what it is. Little dragons. Dragons the size of your forearm. It may as well be an iguana with wings. Isn't it cute? The kawaii doesn't last for long though because as the dragons breathe in the City air they get bigger bigger and bigger. From iguana size to bus size in a matter of 24 to 48 hours. This is a problem for the City, as the dragons grow so do their powers; moderately threatening fire, fairly eardrum shattering soundwaves, formidable lightning strikes you name it. Oh and they have appetites. For what is up to you, just know it's going to be voracious. Also they don't talk and they do not come with any training!
Round Up; the dragon "infestation" as the Deities call it will last a few days, up until 11:59pm April 3. They have a plan to get rid of the reptile vermin and the Deities will be giving the City a heads up on when and how.
How To Keep Your Dragon; we the mods are giving you the players a heads up that you can keep the dragons your characters get...providing that your character finds another character who can shrink the dragon back to its big old house cat, basset hound, basking iguana size. It can be through magic, through science, or through a Deity trade. For the purpose of this event the magic or science routes should be considered difficult but doable and unlikely to be frequent for the duration of the event. That means a spell might work only twice before the magician has to rewrite the incantation or the mad scientist's shrinking ray broke after two shrinks and needs a day of repairs before it can shrink again. We're leaving the hows and how manys to you guys and trust you won't go overboard with it!
With regards to dragon powers, shrinking their size shrinks their powers down as well so firebreathing turns into occasional firecoughing and lightning bolts turn into static shocks and maybe that soundwave is now a dog whistle. We'd like to stress the powers as very low level yet in the right circumstances their powers can be useful. In the future their powers and size might change for certain events or curses but their default after this event will be on the small low level side.
Additional Info! A Deity post has been made here concerning the removal of dragons. The portal will be open throughout April 1 to April 3 but the dragons wouldn't have to fly off immediately. In fact the more they resist the more unruly they become 8)
So there you have it, the opportunity to have a pet dragon of your own! Of course you're more than welcome to have your character leave their dragon at the mercy of the Deities too 8) One dragon per character please!
Ask questions if you have any and feel free to use this post as a way of offering your character's shrinking/dragon taming/who knows whats it prowess!

AHAHAHA OH MY GOD and Rosella's all steeling herself to be eaten and then OH WAIT SUDDENLY NOT because it legit never occurred to her that it might be a GIRL DRAGON.
and then they accidentally use way too much powder and suddenly so tiny.
no subject
Maaaan I'd been picturing house cat size but that is too cute for words
no subject
...also because I'm a terrible person I'm thinking of having her name it Edmund and making him turn out to be a miniature dragon cockblock because this is the running joke that never stops being funny to me.
SO MAYBE WE CAN DO ONE OF EACH? One cat-sized and one bitty-sized? IDK.
no subject
WELL OK we can have one of each and figure out later who gets what. Or they can all be joint owned and flit around from place to place. Or anything 8D yay tiny dragons omg
no subject
You know I had actually considered the Eustace thing when I first came up with the idea and then I pictured Actual Edmund being all like "wait no hold the phone I'm not the dragon that's Eustace B|" and from there on out it was too funny to resist.

I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS I CAN'T. Ok. Do we want them to be at the library today or tomorrow, find the spell and be like huh how odd, then remember it when big dragons start wrecking the place? Or should they go to the library (with poets as research assistants) when dragons show up and find it then?
And what is the tallest building, huh. It's probably the Deity towr?

Part of the hilarity, I think, would be the fact that if Rosella's in a panic about the dragonry, she's not going to be on her A-game as far as finding things in the Library is concerned, so she'll end up pulling out all sorts of wacky things like histories on dragoons and books on wagons and otherwise ridiculous stuff because she wouldn't be able to focus enough to cheat the system like she usually does.
That said, that's what works for me personally, and I'm absolutely flexible to accommodate you and Rae, so don't just let me dictate everything! I mean, they could just as easily find it today and then have ridiculous shenanigans trying to re-find it when it becomes relevant on Friday. Plus there's all the running around collecting mushrooms and turnip seeds and stuff to account for, too, so there's plenty of room to get a timeline set up. o/

Also we're going to have to figure out this dust thing-- from the northwest corner of the attic of the tallest building means we're gonna have to figure out how they can get dust from the... top floor I guess? of the Deities' office... oh my!
(you don't happen to have a plurk thingamabobber for ease of plotting, do you?)
OMG SO EXCITED ABOUT EVERYTHING WITH THIS PLOT.

Okay, so from scoping out the list of locales here, it seems like the contenders for the tallest building are all mostly non-residential things like the Cathedral and the Palace--and being fairly savvy about what happens when you don't follow a spell precisely to the letter (spoilers: you die and/or knock yourself out with a sleeping spell for several days), Rosella will probably make sure to point out that it's got to be a house. Which means depending on whether or not the Deity Office constitutes a house...whatever, we can finesse it. SOMEONE SUMMON A MODLYTYPE FOR A RULING ON THE HOUSE WE NEED, STAT
(alas we will have to stick with this method for the time being)
also what is it with these kids and mushrooms, seriously. IT'S ALWAYS MUSHROOMS WITH THEM, ISN'T IT.
no subject
MAYBE THEY JUST NEED ALL THE DUST
FROM ALL THE BUILDINGS
GOOD GOD WHAT HAVE THEY GOTTEN INTO
Neil used to be a nice boy now he's doing mushrooms and contemplating breaking into government buildings. Rosella you're a bad influence.
no subject
SOB I JUST IMAGINE THEM ALL ZELDA-ESQUE BURSTING INTO PEOPLE'S HOMES WHILE THEY EAT DINNER
CONSULTING A COMPASS
CALMLY COLLECTING SOME DUST
LEAVING WITHOUT COMMENT
I can't decide which would be more hysterical, the race around the City to get twelve portions of dust, or these three idiots trying to somehow scale the Deity Office trying to sneak in to the top floor unnoticed.
no subject
Neil would probably ask politely if they could clean the top floor for the Deities. Like, right now. Please.
They could try breaking in if they say no.
This plot is now diamonds *_*

as THE WORLD'S MOST OBVIOUSLY ILL-DISGUISED CLEANING CREW

I'm gonna ask some theoretical stuff about the dust issue in a new comment to this post and see if we can get some answers re: cleaning crews for the Deities office and building heights, so we can decide from there xD

I will go get this show on the road. o/
no subject
got some answers about dust! Probably tonight or tomorrow, I think Rae is going to post Todd dealing with that and we can get all the various components covered elsewhere and it will all be groovy and SMALL DRAGONS FOR EVERYONE
no subject
And also I'll still probably tag into Rosella's entry if we want to thread out some of the searching once they get to the library
When I am no longer on an iPad and trying to do so XD

This all sounds fabulous to me. I definitely think waiting would make more sense with the progression of the plot, the growing and all, and... yeah weekends are always better, haha.
Todd will definitely help with the library thing, though of course he won't have as good of an idea of what they're looking for so they can still fumble around until they manage to dig up the spell and then go rushing all over for the stuff.
And yeah will definitely have to figure out this dust thing, as ye Alms says.
Gosh my brain is all over I'm not sure if I caught up on everything right >>

WHERE THE FUCK IS THE DUST I NEED IT FOR THE SPELL--what do you mean I was supposed to get it twenty screens ago from the windowsill in the tavern aw FUCK IT ALLYes okay, excellent, so let's do the weekend thing and maybe tomorrow night or Saturday someone can do the SCREAM DRAGONS TO THE LIBRARY part and then from there ADVENTURES. And I will be busy all day Sunday because I just remembered it's Easter (whoops) but we can always handwave some of it and do creative retrospective referencing for other parts, as needed.
