Update?

So....guess what *I* saw? If you don't care about Doctor Who, and therefore have no idea, the answer is the very latest material. Therefore, I'm really SERIOUSLY thinking of doing a canon update.

THINGS THAT WOULD CHANGE:
-for one, you get CRAZIER MASTER. He is WAAAAAAY less likely to stay in Saxon disguise, and will probably stop using the name and START insisting that people refer to him as the Master.
-also.....he...uh. He eats people. He can clearly suppress his urges if he really WANTS to but some NPCs might disappear occasionally. S'like a vampire, kinda. Only it leaves only a skeleton. He eats a lot more, and a lot messier in general. Probs don't go out for dinner with him until he fixes this.
-He has lightning hands. Like, he shoots lightning. From his hands. It's kind of hilarious. And he can jump really HIGH and his head sometimes goes blue and you see his skull.
-NO MOAR DRUMS. I....won't explain why. Just accept it. The drums are GONE.

-And this bit is actually rather spoilery so really, probably don't read it if you were like, "Oh, these things won't probably spoil things" cos this will.

Next change? Uh, he'll be City!Dead. Cos there's no other way to work this. I'd be bringing him in from the very end of the episode where he's....I dunno, just GONE? He kinda disappeared. Also, at the moment, his body is degenerating constantly so even though I might make him come in alive, he's gonna be dead eventually. So....yeah.

I suppose, then....just say if this bothers you, or if you really really don't think I should do it. Or if you think taking him from another point is better. Or if I should wait until you've seen it. XD

I have no opinion RE: updating, I just had to glee about the lightning hands and the omgnodrums :O. It's a big change, and of course I should see the episode, but it sounds like an interesting change, so. :3 I kinda ended up updating Sylar as far as he'll go just recently myself.

I have no electric icon, really? Better rectify that. Also, apologies for ramblyness, it's like...four in the morning here. Whee, insomnia!

I think you might eventually get bored of having this version of the Master in the city. He's not socially adept, as he is in the Saxon era and it's going to make some of your CR difficult as he's capable of about 5 minutes of vaguely rational conversation before shooting off with the crazies. Not that you shouldn't do it if constant craziness is what you like playing, it's just going to change the level of conversations he can hold or the 'normal' life that he has as a sideline now. I'd also guess that he's not stable enough to hold his mind control in that state.

I don't think he died at the end, though I admit I've only watched it once when it aired. My impression was that he stepped through the healing gate and would have been trapped in the time lock. Although Rassilon (or whoever was borrowing his name and glove) might have killed him at that point. I could be totally wrong though, did he vanish before the others did?

I also don't know why there are no more drums. Did I miss that bit? The time lords set up the drumming in his head but did he say it stopped when the diamond fell? I could easily have missed this.

If you did bring him in as already dead, or had him die soon after arrival, I would suggest that he 1) wouldn't eat people anymore 2) wouldn't flash to a skeleton anymore and 3) wouldn't be able to shot lightening or jump high anymore. All those things were happening because he was using up his life force. If he died he wouldn't have a life force to use.

So really, all you'd have is crazy!master without all the other stuff. You might have more fun saving endoftime!Master for grab bag and future type curses, so you can have the fun of the lightening-using crazytimes without having to consider how city death would change things. Updating doesn't bother me at all, but that's my take having seen the episodes.

I...thought he might have stepped through? They left it really really...unexplained. My assumption on the drums is that they were sending out the signal and once the whole...loop closed, the signal would collapse. Again, personal interpretation choice. Er.

YES. The life force thing. I thought about that all day yesterday and...yeah. Wouldn't be able to do that stuff any more.

The real reason I'm considering this whole thing is that I'm currently bored of the Master as he is now and I really want to shake things up. So perhaps he's not dead and doesn't die...and will later revert? I've seen other people back-canon-....dedate? But if they weren't supposed to, and I'M not supposed to, then I'd take that into account as well. The way I saw him in the episode is that he got gradually more stable as the episode progressed. Again, I could be just...extrapolating and whatnot.

But Chase-mun in the comment before me here raises a really valid point. A change like this does restrict CR quite a bit, and while it's safe fun for curse-material, remember you can't easily go back after such an update. So, I guess... only do it if you're really certain you're comfortable with it afterwards?

So... uh. I know next to nothing about Who, but Pixy raised some very good points that... you're obviously considering, which is good. Speaking as someone who has dropped a crazy-all-the-time character twice now, constant crazy can be very difficult to play.

Also, Penny would be sad. Not that this should influence your decision in the least! Just saying. ^^

Well, I've been kind of...
I never really wanted to STICK him like this. But I don't know how canon updates work. I really just like the idea of messing up a bunch of the Master's carefully laid plans by having a crazier him with lightning hands gallivant about the City for a while. But I don't know whether I'm ALLOWED to bring the old version back. If I am, that's my ideal situation. I kind of want Lightning-Hands for more than a curse weekend but I don't want him for ANYWHERE more than a month. Probably less. So...blurgh, I dunno. I'm rewatching the episodes. Seeing where that puts me.
