this is slowly becoming the sexiest app round
It is a law of Poly that once Marion has dropped one over-the-top, magical character from a YA novel, she must immediately app in with a new one. A law I just invented... right now.
So welcome to the City Howl Jenkins, from Howl's Moving Castle by the late great Diana Wynne Jones! He's a phenomenally powerful wizard who dresses like a Victorian David Bowie and has basically the best hair in the world. He's a vain and fickle womanizer who charms his way out of every situation he doesn't want to be in.
He also happens to be twenty-something slacker from 1980s Wales who maintains a portal between his home and the magical kingdom of Ingary.
For those familiar with the book, I took Howl from chapter 19, meaning he's still heartless. Observant characters may notice two things about Howl:
1. He doesn't have a heartbeat, although unlike the City Dead he is warm
2. His eyes have a strangely empty quality to them, described in the canon as resembling green glass marbles rather than proper eyes
Characters are more than welcome to notice and comment on either of these
things about him.
I am so excited to bring this Welsh twat into the City for you guys. I predict many shenanigans.
Those of you who still don't have me on plurk, I can be found this-a-way. :-D
MARION OUT!
