So you know how Poly already has a whole mess of characters that freeload the pants off of everyone else? And you know how it also has a whole mess of characters that have fabulous hair and/or are royalty?

Have another. :3 Prince Soma Asman Gadal here, from the manga Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler, but he will also gladly accept "Your Highness" or "Great One," if you like. ♥ He will be frolicking around and randomly glomping your tiny British earls as soon as I have time to intro. 8) So without ado, please

I hate sudden hiatusing, but I have been getting increasingly feverish the past few days, on top of the migraines (a recurring problem), moving plans, and a ridiculously overdemanding class. As tags from me for the past week have already been patchy (at best), I'm gonna go ahead and call a hiatus until I'm feeling a little less hugely overwhelmed. It'll hopefully not last more than a couple days, after I've had time to both sleep the sick off and catch up on my school. :P

This'll be for [livejournal.com profile] makes_you_tick - who will just be around...being a creeper. And hosting his Wednesday night class. As usual. Hiatus is also for [livejournal.com profile] lessritual - who will still be chained up and highly whiny.

Feel free to email me at Eliada@gmail.com or IM me if you need them for anything. I'll still be around (-ish), and I hope to be back before grab bag weekend. I'm just taking a quick break.

This is Ruth, bringing in (gasp) a third character. This might be a horrible idea, by the way. Three characters. ([livejournal.com profile] politehulk & [livejournal.com profile] twodogsfighting being the other two)

Hover & add [livejournal.com profile] amateurthief

Anyways, this is A. J. Raffles from E. W. Hornung's series of short stories. He's an upper-middle class Victorian gentleman, completely human, is an amateur cricketer of the first class, loves flirting with women (and occasionally men), is a bit of an Aesthetic, and spends his evenings... stealing things. Because he needs the money, and it's fun. Heaven forbid he get a real job.

some background for the bored )

Thievery is going to be a constant plot with him, I'm going to have a contact post up and if you ever need anything stolen because you're bored or your character needs something to angst about then you can hit me up there. For now, he'll just start running up bills until he has to pay them because that's how he rolls.

I am usually all for 4th-walling and all that, and certainly he's going to have to up his game if he's going to be able to adapt his skills to a 21st c. environment, but I'd like it if nobody could out him right away. If you're a Victorian literature geek, a telepathic character, or a walking lie detector, feel free to notice that he's not all that he seems and his intentions are not always pure, but keep it to yourselves? If you confront him he'll just lie and quite frankly compared to some of the other people we've got running around he's really not that much of a threat.

Intro post will be tomorrow to avoid curse shenanigans. For those who know the series, I'm taking him from the moment where he dives off the ship into the Atlantic ocean at the end of The Amateur Cracksman. And finding a PB was the most difficult of any character I've ever tried to find one for. Longish curly black hair, blue eyes, clean-shaven, handsome, athletic, in his mid twenties, and charming?! So we've got James Franco, and I apologize to any purists who take offence at the fact that he's not wearing Victorian clothing, doesn't have blue eyes, and his hair is a little too short. And this is also where I apologize for the fact that he's a bit of a Stu. Blame the fact that all the books are written from the perspective of someone madly in love with him. Part of the challenge of having him here is giving him some unseen depths.

By the way, having a Sherlock Holmes, a Raffles, and a Lizzy Bennet in the City all at the same time is such a level of epic I don't even know. Now all we need is a Dorian Gray and a Jane Eyre to make my life complete.

ADD
Brad here, with my 10th character, Nate Grey from Marvel Comics.

I'm sure a lot of you don't know who he is, even if you're familiar with Marvel Comics. He's a character created during the 90's so is he?

a) related to Cable or Wolverine somehow
b) dressed like he just came from a Duran Duran video
c) a singer in a rock band
d) full of youthful raeg
e) all of the above

If you guessed e, you're correct. He's the alternate world version of Cable, is dressed like an idiot, in canon sings with a rock band at one point, and is very angry.

He's also insanely powerful when it comes to telekinesis and telepathy, on par with Dark Phoenix. I'll be intro'ing him tomorrow but he won't be making an initial journal entry then. I will put up a tl;dr post letting people know though so that any psychics can feel a huge burst of energy.

Errr, that's all, I think.

But don't hover. You're not allowed.

The Return of Sherlock Holmes

So now I know how Arthur Conan Doyle felt.

From almost the very day that I dropped Holmes there were little peeps and noises of "I miss him," or "I'd love to see him back," or "I hope you pick him up again." When I made mention of bringing him back after the school year ended, those little peeps grew into calls, then into cries, until I couldn't stand it (and I missed him as much as anyone else, especially on Saturday nights when the local PBS station shows episodes of the Granada television series--I'd sigh and think, ah, those days...). So it was fairly inevitable that he would come back, really, secretly.

And so he's come back.

And he's got himself a piece of paper and that's very exciting.

He'll be returning tomorrow, yet again coming from somewhere in the Great Hiatus (that time after the Reichenbach Falls ordeal, when Doyle put up his metaphorical "friend remove sherlock_holmes," but before "The Adventure of the Empty House," when he took it back). He'll be coming back with his memories intact, although it's going to take a little while for him to get everything clear in his head again. A little time has passed in his world since he was last here. (I'm also planning on updating him now and then, not that that'll change anything about him, really. I like some of the later cases and I want him to have memories of those, but the Great Hiatus is just such the perfect time to pull him into the City.)

4th Walling: Please, feel free to avail yourselves of the very fragile 4th Wall. Unlike the time before, he won't be hiding his identity. He knows the deal here and he knows he is (or was) known here. Holmes is known in canon and known largely through Watson's writing, so bending the idea a little, he'll determine that anyone who knows his name will have heard of him through his Boswell (which means he's actually made an error in his perceptions of, well, reality, but errors are far more common occurrences than he is likely to admit to).

If you would please*

He'll be making his first appearance tomorrow, after the madness of the curse is over.

*Although I know some of you didn't remove him before...

Hey guys! Here's Hikki, bringing in another new character. This time I'll be bringing you Millie from The Chronicles of Chrestomanci. She's an ex-Goddess and a powerful enchantress, although she's awfully rather jumpy at the moment. But that happens when you get trapped in a mansion of alternate probabilities by a witch who's trying to eat your soul.

I'll most likely be introing her tomorrow, so for the moment please friend add idreammore or do the hover thing.

Edit: Waiting to intro her until my castmates are available! So probably later this week, then.

I has a Giles.

Please welcome Rupert Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He stutters, he loves books, he loves Buffy, he has a dead girlfriend, he's good in bed, he wears tweed like it's going out of fashion (...wait), he's British, and sometimes he reverts into this guy named Ripper, whether that's a result of a curse or not (but we don't talk about Ripper, that's improper). He's taken from the end of season two, when Buffy kills her OTP and runs away from Sunnydale.

He will be introduced tomorrow night, so that werewolves everywhere can actually say hi to him without breathing dog breath in his face.

NO HE WILL BE INTRO'D TONIGHT, RATHER. Just later. I got my full moons wrong. Oops. /slaps OOC complaint on self

H-h-hi!

Mel here, back once again! Sorry! I had some really tough times come up IRL, and what-not, but, I am better now, and bringing back this little guy.

He....... will likely introduce tomorrow. (Seeing Keiki cursed last time was bad enough without seeing him in a dress xD Very pretty though, in a weird way.)

So please re-add herethenthere

Oh! He will come will all his memories, and just think he magically ended up not in the apartment, since he will have zipped home for a split second before 'returning' here. Thanks!

So my theatre company has a show going into techs next week with performances running weekends thru July 4th. I have NO IDEA how much this will affect my poly-play the next several weekends, so I'm just warning you all now if I disappear, that's why. Who knows, they might not need me as much (ha-ha-ha) and it won't affect me at all.

I will be making an effort to play during grab-bag because, hello, grab-bag, but things are gonna be sketchy for me the next few weeks.

So semi-hiatus (kinda) until the 4th with backtagging galore when I can swing it.

This may affect:
Romana ([personal profile] lady_wandering )
Rachel ([personal profile] starchilde_lost )
Bobby ([personal profile] 71_chevelle )
Promise ([livejournal.com profile] missesthestars )
and, of course, Mara ([personal profile] cry_reaper )

At the risk of embarrassing myself again, I'm going to have to retract my prior request to retcon Wesley's last name. Though it is spelled both Wyndham-Price and Wyndam-Price in the comics, which are official, Alison did some digging for me and found it is written down somewhere in the show. Episode 3x04.

So I am...retconning my retcon. Despite what the comics say, I'd rather pull from the original canon source. Sorry. Blame the writers. And thanks, Alison.
