UHHHH oh geezus where's jules she's so much better at this than me.

LET'S SEE. Well actually pretty simple if it's just Rukia I guess since she is like ___________________________________ as far as existing off and on. Aizen is defeated (contained) and Ichigo loses his ability to see spirits/ utilize his reiatsu as he's used to and we got a lovely good-bye panel where he's not able to see Rukia anymore baw (which was actually JUST released in the anime sob and pretty good if you know you are ever bored and feeling super nostalgic idk and the ending is an anniversary Ichigo and Rukia thing which was wonderful...) euwojflsdk ANYWAY time skip. Since every manga needs one....I....guess...

...Ichigo blah blah no powers blah blah goes to SHADY CHARACTER 99999 for help/to see about restoring it, ends up being a traaaaaaaaaaaaaap and fighting happens and then Rukia shows up with a specially designed blade which has spiritual power fed into it from as far as the explanation says, a multitude of the shinigami instead of just her, sort of catalyzing Ichigo's own which had been SAID to have been totally stripped away but lol surprise just kidding. Anyway she comes back like that, blade through his chest a la chapter one, (more or less) anddddd then kicks him in the face - business as usual. We're not entirely positive what's UP with her beyond obvious growth due to all things PRE time skip but the time skip duration apparently included her being promoted to vice captain
