I feel like the worst person in the world posting here again so soon after joining, but I have encountered a big problem.

Somebody dropped my laptop while I was off at class today, and now the screen is cracked. So, basically, my computer is broken for an unknown amount of time.

I'm not calling an official hiatus, because I do have access to other computers, but I'm not going to be as active as I'd like to be, so, I guess I'm calling a semi-hiatus until my problem is fixed or until I get long term access to another computer.

Incidentally, does anybody know if a cracked screen and the damage caused by that is fixable/covered by Dell warranty?

....not really. A dropped computer is a dropped computer.

Be glad it's not a mac. They're screens are sooooooooo expensive.

Not to mention, Apple doesn't even make their own parts anymore. You get the same parts in an HP as a Mac. It's...really lame.

D: I never wanted a mac, but my parents think they're a good idea...If my Dell can work just fine with a new screen, I see no reason to get a Mac. They creep me out.

You have to buy special software for them so they're compatible with your windows software. The hard drives are formatted in a completely different way, so they aren't compatible with any windows...anything.

They think they can't get infected. I've SEEN infected macs, but whatever.

I don't know why people think Macs are safe. Nothing is safe...except maybe Linux.

To really use linux, you need to know what a grub bootloader is. If you don't, you have no business going there.
