Well regardless of the year, the City has transformed to look like turn-of-the-century Paris during the Belle Époque. Corsets and can-cans tempt passersby into red light establishments and the green fairy offers a taste of special elixir to anyone who'll have her. Painters, writers, and musicians continue to hone their craft while searching for the perfect muse. Network devices might take on the appearance of the indispensable typewriter and voice posts may sound like they're coming from a phonograph. Whatever the case, the spirit of truth, beauty, freedom, and love is here and the show must go on. [The Deity Office will maintain the appearance of the elephant building throughout the curse. Afterward, on the 7th the Deity Office will remodel itself to look like this. Each tentacle tip is a laser. Yes, a laser.]

And herein is an organizational post to share fictionalized and temporary backstories for characters for the curse, plan out plots and situations and romances, and figure out who's tightening whose corset strings (no, no, no: control your own corset strings).

Please remember that the City has not turned into Paris (there's no Arc de Triomphe or Champs-Élysées, for example), but it will look like it--think of it as AU!Paris, if you will, like Moulin Rouge set in even more of a fairy tale city, exuding the spirit of the Belle Époque.

So for truth, beauty, freedom, and love and a hard-boiled egg, go forth!

Maria's father left Rosa when she was pregnant, and without delving deep in to issues, let's say for the purpose of this curse, rather than let it be known she couldn't even hold on to her husband, that she's been telling everyone he "died abroad". I don't have all the kinks worked out for this quite yet, but my thoughts are that Max is still working as a bodyguard and/or bartender. For Suou(sapanwood): Daughter of a famous scientist - one of the first modern physicists whose theories were reaching even international channels. He was caught stealing a was-to-be groundbreaking experiment from another scientist and killed himself in the aftermath. In truth, it was the other scientist- a rival who had stolen his work and killed him to cover the evidence. Of course he didn't plan on Suou watching the entire thing happen. Two years later and all her father's money paid off as damages for her father's "theft", Suou's now a street urchin, selling paper flowers for centimes and sous during the day, whilst plotting revenge at night.

Any pre-established connections wanted. Your character could have known her on the street or by name and gossip-- the daughter of the disgraced Mikhael Pavlichenko. Or your character could have known her through her father prior to his death. I am open for discussion. :3 And if anyone wants their character to be the rival scientist, then that would be awesome. <33

Amory Felix (fatespoken): The spoiled son of a wealthy oil tycoon from America abroad who's come to the City for Opium, absinthe, bordellos, cabarets, prostitutes, and all that lovely decadence.

If you want to be one of his fellow bad boys or possibly... even a prostitute or cabaret dancer, I am very open to plans. 8)

Chase will be a violin player / composer, a former fixture on the high society circuits now penniless after being disinherited for not following his Father's ideals. He'll be trying not to starve in his garret and wandering the bars and theatres in search of inspiration.

People from all walks of life might know him either from his time in the upper class or his more recent slum-haunting ways. Your theatre or ballet might even have commissioned a piece of music from him on a good day, or he could be violin tutor to some of the city's young ladies.

Just a note here to say Saya is going to be Solomon's kept woman. Every supplier has to have one. Before Solomon paid his pretty price for her (namely the opium and ongoing medical care for the Master's ladies), she was part of the Master's brothel. So any of you lovely ladies that are part of his collective, feel free to recognize her/like her/be snooty at her for being kept/etc.

Dr. Temperance Brennan will be a lot less, uh... doctor-y for this curse.

She's one of those women whom one might describe as having "questionable morals". She'll be a can-can dancer, though not particularly successful - don't get me wrong, she does have the moves and certainly the body, but she is considered a bit strange (well that's a surprise, lol) because, GASP, she's a woman with a weird interest in sciences, of all things! Unheard of! Of course, she'll never be taken seriously. She'll have a few vices: she's still blunt as ever and a bit brash in her mannerisms. She also enjoys a good, stiff drink every now and then. Maaaybe even a bit more often than that. She's not particularly wealthy (duh), and although she's a dancer/entertainer and yes, has a flirty/promiscuous side to her (she understands biology, after all!), she's still not a prostitute. She'll be wearing a nice red/black/gold corset/skirt ensemble and may or may not sport a red eye patch sometimes though she's not blind in either eye. (In case someone here watches Bones, think the undercover-in-a-circus episode Double Trouble in the Panhandle.)

She'll be one of the low/mid class people, some of them might know her. She especially rubs elbows (or tries to, they're probably not too keen on her) with the science people, and the ones that have absinthe or whiskey close by. xD

If anyone's interested in knowing Brennan in some way, please be my guest, I'm up for almost anything! I've already established that she knows at least the artist Angela, so if you know Ange you may know of Brennan. Also, if someone needs an entertainer for their clubs/bars/opium dens, have at it!

Some people fit in any country, any century, by standing out. Sooooo~ if you slip down the right alleys you'll find a little foreign-looking house with a sign out front that says "fortunes told, please inquire within." An Asian woman in Paris is hopelessly exotic but Yuuko speaks your language like a native and wears whatever is the height of fashion; Wiki says feathers and fur.

Most of her clients are looking for a cheap thrill-- it isn't quite the right century, yet, for fake seances and ectoplasm-- but if you know the right way to ask, you might get more than your fortune told.

Questions/ideas/fitting into my backstory are totally welcome~
