Shock therapy, more widely known as ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) was used world wide from it's introduction in the 1930s. It consists of passing an electric current through the brain in order to induce seizures to calm patients with problems of mania, dementia, schizophrenia, or who were just plain nucking futz. Like Xigbar.

In Xiggy's case, they would've strapped him to a table, put a rubber ball in his mouth to keep him from loosing any teeth when his jaw was clenched as the current passed through his brain, causing unbearable pain, and then jolted with several volts of electricity. Probably more than necessary if Larxene was handling the controls.

At least it's not a frontal lobotomy :Db

I whole-heartedly agree.
