WE INTERRUPT THIS MERRY DAY TO ANNOUNCE ...
AN APOCALYPSE!!!

Actually, no. More like a not-so-little snag in the City's rhythm.
Hei, your resident assassin, has been making a careful study out of the City's interconnections with the Clock and Barrier. As a calculated risk, he's decided to use his ability, magnified by a "meteor-shard", on the Barrier. The results will be as follows:
First of all, don't panic: the barrier will not fall, despite this attack.
However, immediately after, there will be several shock waves that will pass around and over the City. These will appear like shimmering waves of green and golden light, like the Northern Lights. These waves of light will move across the surface of the barriers (which, if you will recall, exist as a sphere several miles above, below, and on all sides of the City's island). These waves will continue for several minutes before fading in a shower of gold light--they're quite pretty, actually.
But, immediately after the lights fade, there will be waves of heat that will pass over the City for about five hours, followed by waves of cold for about five hours. A heatwave will blast the City, followed by a cold snap. So expect to get scorching pavement followed by a dusting of snow.
In the midst of this and after, there will be small earthquakes (enough to shake things off shelves and make a mess but not enough to do real damage) and gusts of wind (likewise, enough to break some branches, but not enough to do major damage). In essence, the City will be destabilized by this attack and will shake, shuffle, and try to settle itself. The settling will take, all told, about twelve hours. After that, the temperature will return to normal (low to mid 80s F) and all storms and earthquakes will cease. The damage remains, of course.
Meanwhile, at the first sign of the shimmering shock waves, members of the Anonymous Movement will immediately go into full red alert mode and proceed to the Carousel and, presumably, down to the Clock itself. It's not clear what they're doing, but it has to help calm the situation down...right? They're certainly bustling around, that's for sure.
Expect a formal statement about everything from a representative of the Anonymous Movement after all is said and done--!

The event will take place on the 24th of August. I'll throw up a post as a FTR.
To those who know Hei, expect him to be locked up in the City's prison. To those who know 'Li', expect the boy to be on a sick-leave considerably before the Barrier attack. Because if he gets hauled to jail, he'd prefer not to have his alias compromised. If you'd like to have your character notice something wildly off about the City, please feel free! Alternately if you'd like your character to be the one who apprehends Hei, that's also cool!
