Why, hello, Poly!

Caru here with something...a little bit different...

Please welcome one, Doctor Edward "Ned" W. A. Pointsman (the_pointsman), to the City! Yay!

Not much special there, right? Well, here's the deal:

Ned Pointsman here is actually an NPC.

What? Yes! However! In the spirit of full disclosure, let me explain: for all intents and purposes, Pointsman will be acting like a PC. What does that mean? In short: he'll be posting to the Network, getting hit by curses, replying to Network entries, available for plotting, talking to other characters, and generally acting like just another resident of the City. Think of him as an OC, really.

"But he's an NPC?" Yes, he sure is! "So what does that really mean?"

Well, being an NPC, it means that he's a gamepiece, a part of the game and its storyline, though this is OOC knowledge. To characters, he should appear as just another one of the residents in the City (at first, anyway). He's tied into a lot more than one might think and therefore he may have valuable information that your character(s) may want to learn in several aspects and areas. Like, say...about the City. And stuff. And junk. You know. Whatever.

Now, that information isn't going to come out all at once and he's going to work to protect himself, acting like he's just an ordinary man brought into the City against his will like so many others. He may, in fact, be in some danger in the City. Mysterious!

To be clear, though: he is not a member of the Anonymous Movement (most certainly not!), he can't do things like trades or deals, he's not in control of anything much in the City or its environs besides himself, but there may be more to him than meets the eye. (If you're inclined to look around in the meta-levels and Google things, his name should be a bit of a tip-off as to some connections. It is not a coincidence. Happy hunting.)

→ He arrived in the City yesterday, in the midst of the dream event, though he may not say so. Shhhh... And his arrival in the City is the beginning of some plot and metaplot action, so you may want to bear that in mind as he moves around in the City. I know this idea is a little off-the-wall, but I hope the City will welcome him as it would any other newcomer. And I hope you have fun with him. Things are gonna happen. His first post will turn up pretty soon here and his posts will be tagged with the "!npc" tag.

And if you have any questions, feel free to ask them here! (For example, if your character is especially perceptive, has powers or abilities, or is psychic or psychic, and you want to know what they might pick up about this guy, &c.) I'll do my best to explain without spoiling too much nfu fu fu fu fu~

Oh, P.S.: he seems British--or acts it and sounds it, anyway. If that means anything to you...
