Lu Hong Mei

Hello, Poly!

This is Di with a new character, not hailing from any book, manga, comic, or movie, but instead an original character from the back of her dusty, cobweb-infested brain. Please welcome Lu Hong Mei, born Du Chang Fa, Red Guard for the Chinese Communist Party and coming in from around the height of the Cultural Revolution in 1967. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Chinese history, the Cultural Revolution was a period of extreme atrocities, dating roughly from 1966-76, over the course of which anywhere from four million to eleven million people (or even more, who really knows) were killed through a series of revolts and rebellions, while not often directly, then certainly through poor treatment while incarcerated or otherwise in confinement, treatment bordering on torture. It's... not a pretty time to be from, and the effects on that generation (for most of us, the generation of our parents) are quite fascinating to explore. Which is what I'm trying to do with my new character here!

You can read her extended history and background here, if you're interested!

To put it simply, however, Lu Hong Mei is of mixed heritage, half-Chinese and half-Japanese, and she's Little Miss Miracle Grow redux. Rapid cellular generation makes her very, very difficult to kill and incapable of aging past the physical appearance of 19, although she can still get sick for periods of time, so on so forth--unfortunately, unlike our other immortal chick in Poly, Hong Mei's blood will not cure you of all ills.

Bringing in this OC is kind of terrifying, but I hope that she'll be fun! I maaay introduce her shortly if I've the energy, and if not she'll be intro'd by Monday at the latest. So please:

Claire Bennet

HELLO POLY.

Just a little side note that - as Lys mentioned - Claire Bennet is going to be taking a trip out of the City as of last night to be updated to A Clear and Present Danger with Mister Mohinder Spiderman McGee, which means that, yes, I have to watch all of awful Volume 3. She'll be back sometime this week along with Mohinder in a dashing orange jumpsuit and with the terror level set at Nathan.

Along with that, I'm probably going to be a little slow or MIA completely at the start of this week, though I'm going to try to make activity as best I can, because I fail. School is starting up again tomorrow, and I have some scheduling difficulties, so I'll be all over campus trying to figure out where I'm going with who and how and when. Sorry for dropped tags or missed posts.

This very semi-hiatus goes for: Veronica ([livejournal.com profile] threeatonce), Jack ([livejournal.com profile] youjump), and Ruby ([livejournal.com profile] blackeyedskank)

THANK YOU AND GOOD afternoon NIGHT.

Happy Sunday everyone! I'm dropping in to tell you about a little something that might spice up your characters' (and by extension your own) Monday.

See, this guy here and his brother Cal have been busy since they came back to the City earlier this month. They've been out hunting monsters because it's apparently what they do to let off steam when the angst levels rise. They've been careful about it, keeping to isolated areas of the Underground and taking out NPC creepy crawlies in small enough numbers that they won't attract attention. What happens in Niko's head stays in Niko's head. They don't want to invite friends and strangers to talk about it by being sloppy.

After missing three days of hunting, though, and going from fairly happy if cursed TA back to an unhappy status quo, a quiet hunt isn't going to cut it.

One time only, Nik and Cal are going to slip up and leave about a dozen sliced-and-diced NPC monsters in a part of the Underground where people can stumble over them (literally or figuratively). That one time is Sunday night, which means the monsters can be found starting Monday, Poly time.

There will be no proof that Cal and Nik are responsible, but the weapons used will have been guns, knives and swords--mostly knives and swords. It will be obvious that the responsible parties are extremely good at what they do, almost inhumanly so.

What all of this means is gossip for the City at large, and possibly the opportunity for those who know a bit about what Nik and Cal have been going through since their update to speculate based on the evidence. Have fun, and if you have any questions or concerns, please comment!

Mod-approved.

Note: I am having frequent problems with comment notifications (many of them don't show up in my inbox until after I've logged out and then logged back in, even though they have the proper time stamps when they finally do appear), and I don't know if it's LJ, my e-mail, or something else. I apologize in advance if I lag with replies. Hitting refresh to keep up isn't always a success story.

Hey guys, Clara here.~ Not a hiatus, drop or anything like that, just a general announcement that your dear moody badass teenage shaman friend Ren here will be leaving the City this evening for a small canon update. Given the angst he's going through right now without his baka...I decided to pour salt on the wound, ^^; and update him right till the end of the newest chapter of the manga. The big deal of this? Ren will find out Horo was in love with someone before when he was younger. So yeah, you can imagine the affect this will have on him can't you? So expect him to be masking his misery badly on his return guys. He should be dropped back into thing Monday/Tuesday.

Thanks for your attention, we shall now return you to your regularly scheduled crazy. ^^~
